Same here, and if you pay me enough, you'll be allowed to carry the title "BCSD" (B10m Certified Software Developer). Not that it's worth a dime, but hey, I'll even make you a shiny logo you can put on your website/resume ;-)

Seriously, there are many nodes to be found here regarding Perl certification systems. AFAIK, none of them are really appreciated, nor valued much by anyone.

If you want to prove to the world that you've got some good skills, put some time in creating or improving modules on CPAN. If you have a killer module on there, I'm sure your (future) employer will be impressed.

I am more interested to know why you need a certificate ! is it for employment ? believe me I have seen people with certificate on a particular technology but know lesser than people who have been working on the same and didnt find time to attend the exam of certification.

A new lesson i learnt in my current work place -

There is one guy by name Rahul Sahadevan he is passed out of Indian Institute of Technology and IISc,Bangalore who is one of the pillar for the company to go ahead.

Believe me he has coded in C for years together but still relies on perl for optimizing most of his task.

He has written a script which when he executes results in his build request getting the highest priority from the server amidst the people who are already in queue.

I did go to him and asked him to join perlmonks.org..

his reply ...'no time'.

initially i was dissapointed but later found that he really didnt have time.

The lesson i learnt .. Saints/Gods are everywhere and this is an excellent monastery where Saints/Gods share their wisdom to younger ones like me and you.

Out of the blue if you show a certificate which has "xyz is a skilled one in perl" people may doubt you , Murugu recently got placed in Oracle for his perl skills and i dont think he produced a certificate for his perl skills , his certificate of perl skills is his offer letter.

You must have seen words/boardings like "Be consistent".. and so on in this monastery when you wander here and there , learn from it.

Pls do not think i am trying to make a negative point on your post ..I was naive when I came here and learnt things in a hard way..I am now sure not to repeat the same mistakes atleast if not i make new ones.

I would also share one more interesting thing/quote i came across from one of my mentor..

" A monk is one who practises daily even after becoming a monk , the day he stops he is no more a monk"

UPDATE : I MADE A BIG MISTAKE OF OVERLOOKING THE root POST and a new lesson learnt again ...losing XP :-D , i apologize , yet again.
