Most *nix MTA's append > to any instances of the word "From" that occur at the begining of a line (as
Fastolfe mentioned above). That way messages in a mailbox file can be delimited by by lines begining with "From." Solaris uses the content-length of the message rather than "From" to delimit messages and doesn't modify and instances of "From found in a message. Netscape expects standard *nix behavior. Check out
