I'd riff on the division between front-end user-facing stuff and internal tools. I'd call it an "intranet server". Sure, it's got a very 1999 ring to it, but people might have some idea what you mean.

Or you could just pick an incomprehensible jumble of letters and numbers and use that. For added points don't put the name in DNS - have each user keep it in their /etc/hosts file. Good times.
