I like 'compare and contrast' type questions and find that anyone who can clearly explain the differences between:

• my and local
• use and require

will be reasonably competant.

I also like to give people code with the comments removed and ask them to talk about it - tho' I've not yet done this with the source to Symbol::Approx::Sub :)
