    Welcome, [id://gzayzay], to PerlMonks.

When you post a response to a suggestion, especially if you claim the advice didn't work, you may be strongly encouraged to show:

    • that you took the advice seriously
    • that you applied some genuine effort in following the advice
    • any specific steps you took (helps in troubleshooting efforts)

Responses that don't follow this advice will tend to be downvoted, and you will find that the stream of advice and help will sometimes dry up. Just trying to help you in future postings, not trying to put you down.

what was your -f attempt and why didn't it work (i.e. what was the error/observed behavior)?
I will retry the -f with the file extension i.e $path/database.txt
