I'd suspect a few things: (1) perhaps the tree didn't get fully loaded successfully; (2) maybe you're still having PATH issues.

Here's what I would try: make a snapshot (static) view that pulls the distrib; and run it in that view. Since those will be plain, "local" files, that will at least eliminate any problems that might be caused by the networkiness of the ClearCase dynamic view.
