Are you sure that the missing close quote is not an error? I don't have Windows to test on, but Linux, missing either a closing ' or " causes the command line to spill onto the next line, which means that you type in your command and nothing happens.	[reply]

Yes, it's optional in Windows. I never close my quotes when using `perl -e` in Windows. `>perl -e "print 'foo' foo >` [download]	[reply] [d/l] [select]
