hesco has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I'm building an intranet for a new partnership doing distributed code development. I want a bug / issue tracking tool, which I can host, preferably perl, though I'm willing to look at php and python tools. What applications have monks had experience with? Which ones should I steer way clear of? What features are simply must haves? All advise is appreciated. Thanks, -- Hugh

Well, there's RT by Best Practical which is used to track bugs/issues for Perl and CPAN...

Though not written in Perl, Trac looks pretty nice.

You could try Bugzilla. It is one of the most used bug/issue tracking tool for opensource projects.
