in reply to Perl in the Enterprise

perl is not enterprise 'cause people with money say it isn't. sun, ibm, ms and a bunch of other places say java and .net are enterprise.

anyone who says perl isn't enterprise 'cause it's insecure, it's a web language and other subjective silliness doesn't have the whole picture.

to say Perl isn't easy to write a language that is easily parseable like java, .net and a few other languages. they're right.

to say that perl doesnt' have a huge api by default, well, yeah, they're right. dbi/dbm is not typically bundled w/ it. it is in CPAN. so go get it. duh.

perl isn't enterprise because that's not where the money is pushed. period. it's a horrible stupid, short sighted reason too.
