How do I find out how much CPU a process is using?

strredwolf has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

TSIA. Somehow the wsproxy (here) starts grabbing CPU like it's no tomorrow. I'd like it to autodetect that and kill itself (maybe giving some diagnostics as to *where* it's buzy-looping).

You should take a look to the BSD::Resource module ( focus on getrusage to now how much a process consume cpu time ) Hope this will help you in your quest of wisdom	[reply]

A simple cpan search resulted in Proc::ProcessTable::Process. You easily extract CPU-usage from that. Hope this helps Jeroen	[reply]
