It is fortunate then that it would seem that most monks are not idiots. This site provides a consistently high standard of information and I think that the voting system plays a large part in that.
Sure it can be, indeed is, abused from time to time. But the senior monks generally do a pretty good job of keeping the junior monks inorder.
The voting system doesn't have to hit people over the head with a hammer to do its job. As a general guide to what the users of the site want the site to be like, the voting system works well.
