Hey everyone.

As some of you may know, today was my "big day," the day I graduated from high school. It's been an incredible four years, and I wanted to thank everyone here for being a huge part in almost every one of those days.

I'm writing this because I feel that perlmonks has had an incredible effect on my life. At first, sure, it seemed like a novel, quick way to get answers. But then it grew on me. It literally became a part of my life. The people, the information, the level of intelligence and thinking, it mesmerizes me.

The past four years have definitely come and gone fast. So fast that I honestly can't believe it. And I can't believe how much I've grown, most definitely with the support of the monks here, and how I can look back through my old nodes and chuckle at not only the difference in knowledge, but maturity.

I hope watching me grow up here has been as big of a joy as being the one growing up, and I hope to keep everyone of you monks in my life for a very long time.

God bless, and thanks for a wonderful four years :-)

meh.

Congratulations! That's a huge day... now go out and do whatever it is you want - just make sure you're having fun while you're at it ;-)

Thanks spiritway! in light of all these crappy anonymonk posts, i appreciate your kind words :-) i've got a wonderful college i'm going to, so i can't wait to see how the next few years and beyond pan out.

Unfortunately, some people find it amusing to trash others, rather than to produce something constructive. I have a tendency to get hooked into answering trolls - a bad habit I'm trying to break.

As someone once said: "The trouble with the world is, not all the clowns are in the circus."

Gratz! I, too, enjoy the virtual community here. It's always nice to interact with people of a similar bent. If you're an odd fish in a small pond, it's refreshing to have a place where you can appreciate / be appreciated by your peers.

Have fun, and good luck with the next phase. You going to college? In any case, if you think things are flying by now ... just wait! For me, it seems like each year is half as long as the last. Be sure to have fun while they fly by!

good on you, man... now the fun really begins :)

My eldest son is in his last year of high school now. I'd love to get him interested in Perl (and Perl Monks), but he seems much more concerned about his playstation :/

      McD :-)

Though i haven't known you for long here, it's been a real pleasure getting to know you. you're most definitely one of the monks this post is aimed at.

Do you know if your son plays any clan games on his PS? like, whatever the new incarnation of SOCOM or the new Elder Scrolls game? if so, maybe you could get him started on creating websites for those clans. That's what got me started, anyway.

      meh.

I'd completely forgotten that you used to be one of the precocious infants around here. I guess that shows you really have grown up well :-)

    Congratulations, dhoss.

Congratulations! Now you have more choices ahead. Enjoy them! Always remember, you are NEVER trapped, you always have choices. I have been in IT for 20 years and I still do not know what I will do when I grow up. (feel free to ask what I did the prior 30 years). Make choices based upon your experience, not on the fear of how it may be different from your past experience! You have picked at least one good comunity to use as role models. You will do well in life, enjoy the journey! May it be long and prosperous! :)

    Enjoy!
