in thread I am having a problem with search and replace regarding "

They asked the question simultaneously in two forums. That's my gripe, because then you have two different sets of people both trying to help, and when the answer is seen in one forum, the others don't get the benefit of the answer, or knowing when to stop because the problem is solved.

And yes, they were happy with the answer, which is why there wasn't any followup here. That's also the rude part... if someone gets an answer from having cross-posted in forums, they should have the courtesy to post the answer every place they posted the question.

In the "totally unsurprising Google results" department:

    • Results 1 - 10 of about 198 for "courtesy on the internet"
    • Results 1 - 10 of about 58,500 for "unpaid support"
    • Results 1 - 10 of about 97,400 for "free consultancy"

[Can't think of appropriate smiley to insert here]

My bad. I interpreted your post as "They got an answer from #perl, but didn't like it so they came here to ask the same question again".

I don't think enough time has passed to exclude the possibility that they'll come back and share their new found knowledge, although you are probably correct in assuming they won't.
