Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:
I have written a simple daemon to access a MySQL database, and to handle the information appropriately. My problem is that the daemon keeps dying. I have captured the signals, and determined that segmentations are occuring, along with "unable to connect to the database" messages. In addition to those problems, after about a half of an hour, the process is no longer doing anything but grinding on the CPU.
This is getting annoying. I don't want a band-aid like chron to be required to keep the daemon running. Are there any ideas about it? I hope someone can give me some ideas on where to look.
