The problem is that everyone thinks they've got one of those special cases where it is good, or is safe. They're often wrong, and blissfuly free of the background necessary to make an informed decision. Instead, they see what looks like a simple solution that does exactly what they're asking for, and despite warnings, they forge ahead using it, thinking they're that special case, not realizing what a corner they're painting themselves into. Then something that never should be turned lose on the world gets put onto some website and it ends up bringing a server down, or it ends up consuming hours of someone's time debugging it.
