LittleGreyCat, your idea works nicely if you decide to only to unzip the latest version of each module and make that available in your local disk based ppm repo.

Do you really need (or even want) to have every version of every module in your repository?

In the rare case that you need a special version of a module you have that available in .zip file format on disk.
