jasonmc has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi folks, I'm using the CGI module for my website. I want to create an admin page where some typical admin tasks are done (e.g. approving registrations). How would I go about implementing such a page so that only approved users could access this page?

It's pretty simple, use one of httpd's authentication mechanisms, and restrict access to the 'admin' group. See the apache manual for details. Https is recommended.

Keeping it simple, you can add password protection functionality to your page and give the passwords the people you trust :)

Do a Super Search on this site. The questions about implementing password protection on the Web are asked quite often. CGI Password is a good place to start.
