Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Greetings Monks, I'm new to Perl and am looking for Perl Training in the Houston, TX area. Any good suggestions? I did a Google search using "Perl Training Houston" and it came back while it was a good place to start, I'd prefer to get a referral from someone who's actually taken a training. Thanks in advance. Regards, -- Ammon

Randall Schwartz (aka merlyn) of Stonehenge Consulting Services can probably tell you if his organization can help you. Check out http://www.stonehenge.com for more information.

You may already know about this, but you might want to check with the Houston Perl Mongers. They always welcome new people to Perl.

And, I'm sure other people would suggest reading Randal's Learning Perl, Fourth Edition book. If you contact the Houston Perl Mongers, you can probably get a 30% discount from O'Reilly for the book.

In addition to the other suggestions, check your local community college. That's how I got my feet wet in Perl.

And if you're paying for it yourself, they're reasonably priced too. My two semesters of Perl cost about $65.
