rass has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hello fellow monks.

Does anybody know where I can find some concrete information on glob? It drives me nuts, I totally can't understand it. I hope I have posted this in the right place?
Actually, while I'm at it, can anybody recommend some solid search techniques? I would like to be able to find info for myself before I waste your valuable time...

cheers,
rass

Information on globs: Dominus is your friend, his Perl Hardware Store is where you want to shop, you will learn about globs and about tons of other funky stuff.

As far as searching it is pretty difficult to search for glob because of the glob function which gets in the way, so you will have to use typeglob instead, and the usual methods, Super Search is pretty good here and Google work too.

Don't forget perldoc perldata (an HTML version is here) but youshould learn how to use perldoc anyway.

First of all, Welcome to the MOnastery. May you grow with us.

Supersearch is the best thing since sliced bread, if you are looking for certain information on this site. Simply type in "Super Search" in the main search box at the top-left corner of your screen. This is the path to many pearls of wisdom.

The search engine of choice around here seems to be http://www.google.com - Try entering "Perl + Tutorial" and see what gets thrown back at you.

The last stop would be, if you have a problem that you REALLY can't work out for yourself with a reasonable amount of searching, would be to submit it here, usually under Seekers of Perl Wisdom. You will find many a wisened member only too happy to answer your question / compete with other answers :)

That's basically it, although i'm sure i forgot some stuff that other's will remember. Most important of all, respect the member's and yourself by "doing your homework" before you post a question.
