I highly recommend GVIM (www.vim.org),
Granted, it has a steep learning curve, but it's worth the power you gain in the end. If you don't want to spend the time learning vim-ese, there are still friendly editors out there which provide color syntaxing. VisualSlickEdit and UltraEdit are two such editors.
