Evan, like I said in #perl on IRC a few hours ago, I respect your right to be hard-core, but the way arguments are discussed on Perlmonks is that you respond specifically to each argument, rather than updating the root node. That way, another can follow the various paths of conversation.

Normally in this tytpe of situation (a controversial suggestion, discussed with reasoned reponses), I upvote the root node for bringing up an interesting discussion and, if absolutely necessary, downvote any replies I violently disagree with, or think are not at all helpful or downright inaccurate to the majority of other readers. But your refusal to follow the usual and customary discussion protocol made me decide a downvote was appropriate.

And don't worry about XP -- if you're passionate about a subject, just go ahead and write, and let the XP fall where it may.
