voyager has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I have a number of activities that are timestamped by my server. When these times are displayed to users in different timezones, they get a little confused.

What I'd like to do is have a preference setting where users can pick their timezone, and then I would have a function for massaging the dates based on timezone, time of year (DST and all), etc.

What I am looking for is a definitive list of timezones, and a perl module that can handle the date arithmetic, including daylight savings time consideration.

Check out Time::Timezone from CPAN for manipulation routines based on the TZ environment variable.
