No echo Server

Alien has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi Monks!
I would like your opinion on something ... i would like to learn how to write a daemon and i would like to know the following thing : if i will implement a login procedure thingy :) ... how can i make it to be "no echo" like ? So that when i enter my password it will not show it on the screen !
