Alien has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

What module works with Yahoo Messenger now ? I've tried Net::YahooMessenger and Net::YMSG and they didn't work.
Any ideas ?

    Yahoo changed their protocol sufficiently regularly enough that Tatsuhiko Miyagawa and/or Varun Kacholia elected to not keep the modules in sync with the protocol.

    In other words, until someone elects to take up the cause, you're out of luck.

    --chargrill
    s**lil*; $*=join'',sort split q**; s;.*;grr; &&s+(.(.)).+$2$1+; $; = qq-$_-;s,.*,ahc,;$,.=chop for split q,,,reverse;print for($,,$;,$*,$/)

    What sort of "didn't work" and what were you trying to achieve? Have you a small sample script that demonstrates the problem you are having?

    DWIM is Perl's answer to Gödel
      Unknown error at D:/perl/site/lib/Net/YMSG.pm line 344.
      And Net::YahooMessenger crashes in a similar way ... maybe because the modules aren't maintained anymore ? I think the last update they had was from 2003

    gaim, the instant messenger client, is able to connect to Yahoo and is scriptable in Perl, maybe you can use it for whatever you need.
