Replacing HTML entities like   with Unicode equivalents

acone has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

How do I replace escaped sequences like   in an HTML document with their corresponding unicode characters? Is there some nice way to do this? Thanks, Andrew
