Just an update. I just found a note from KeySpan where they state that the acive serial ports can be found by looking at the registry at this location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\SERIALCOMM I have just tested this and it does map to whatever serial ports are active. Thanks to all of help...
