text extraction of ( , )

echoangel911 has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hello, If i have some statement like "( ... ( ... ) ... )", is there an easy way to extract the location of the most outer brackets? I know vim has some command that allows you find jump from opening bracket to closing bracket ... thanks
