I spend all night hanging out in #linux on my network. This means we have a few programmers hanging around. We have a smalltalk/perl/c guy, a java/perl guy, a c/bash/sed guy, and me, the resident perl zealot. Its a lot of fun to watch all of our individual "coding processes" because its kind of different per person because of what they use. Note, this is not a troll. I'm not bashing anybody's favorite language. I'm just making an observation and relating an experience I thought was fun to watch.
#!/usr/bin/perl while (my $friends and $neighbours) { use C; $i -> warn "#0 0x4053bfd7 in malloc () from /lib/libc.so.6\n". "#1 0x4053d415 in calloc () from /lib/libc.so.6\n". "#2 0x404aa45f in g_malloc0 () from /usr/lib/libglib-1.2.so.0\n"; $friends -> segfault(frequency => 'repeatedly'); $neighbours -> bang( appendage => 'head', target => 'wall', frequency => 'repeatedly'); $i -> chuckle && $i -> code (duration => 'all night long'); } use perl || segfault;
my first poem, be kind.

    Hi deprecated for being your first Perl poem, this one is actually a pretty funny one :) It amazingly makes sense and also shows how life is for you :) (Great qualities of a Perl poem.) Keep up the great programming work! Talk to ya later...
