Products that use or include perl?

osunderdog has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

While wandering through a stack trace of a third party application, I ran across the following calls:

That made me wonder, has anyone compiled a list of applications that depend on perl?

Well, I have not, and I don't know of anybody who did compile a list. Maybe this thread is a starter? Here's another product: NoMachine - some binaries are perlcc compiled scripts based on perl 5.6.2 - arguably not a very good idea, since the pod for perlcc states "Use for production purposes is strongly discouraged." --shmem _($_=" "x(1<<5)."?\n".q·/)Oo. Off the top of my head, Webmin (web-based server control panel) and WebGUI (content management system)...I think Ultimate Bulletin Board was also written in perl. Hi, There are a lot of programs that depend on perl, besides the ones written in Perl. That's remember me to the YAPC::2005::Braga, the motto was "Perl is everywhere!" I think Perl is also used by Oracle among others for doing the automated database maintenance tasks. Regards, fmerges at irc.freenode.net	[reply]
