    Net::FTP::Recursive would probably be the best Perl solution for a hierarchical backup via FTP, as marto suggested. However, if you have any leeway over the project requirements, rsync might be worth looking into as an alternative to FTP, as you could copy only files that change (and only the parts of them that change).
