Hi sir, I notice that this is your first post. At time of writing you have posted a question at the end of an unrelated thread. Your question should have been a thread in its own right under the Seekers of Perl Wisdom section of this site. Check out the PerlMonks FAQ and How do I post a question effectively? if you have not done so already. Regards a Perl solution to your question, have you looked at the module Net::FTP::Recursive? I think this is a good starting point for you as the documentation is good and there are sample scripts included. If you need help installing modules check out Modules: How to Create, Install, and Use from the tutorials section of this site. Hope this helps. Martin	[reply]

Net::FTP::Recursive would probably be the best Perl solution for a hierarchical backup via FTP, as marto suggested. However, if you have any leeway over the project requirements, rsync might be worth looking into as an alternative to FTP, as you could copy only files that change (and only the parts of them that change). __________ Systems development is like banging your head against a wall...
