in reply to OT / less obvious Troll posts and how to deal with them (consideration guidelines)

I would like to see troll posts sent somewhere they can easily be ignored. They do not contribute anything positively to the web site.

A problem with troll posts is that if you are unfamiliar with the site or the subject matter; someone might take it seriously. The only way they might be able to distinguish that this a troll is to read the responses. I think that adds an extra burden to the person who does not know what is going on.

A suggestion could be that all root nodes that have a certain threshold of negative reputation are automatically sent to the troll room. The threshold could be set globally or a per user basis.

Not only is that possible, that's the whole point. Troll postings are inherently hostile to new users.
