All,
My participation at PerlMonks has been extremely low as of late. From what little lurking I have been doing, it seems I may have stumbled on to a potential bug. In a number of threads, this one for instance, a reply at or near the top refers to existing replies which actually come after it. When I first saw this, I thought the poster had read the thread after posting an updated their node accordingly but now I am not so sure.

To be clear, it appears as though a number of replies to a thread already exist when a monk posts but instead of appearing at the end they seem to be inserted higher up than one would expect. I have not experienced this myself so perhaps I am just having PM detox gitters.

Any thoughts?

Cheers - L~R

Go to your User Settings node and select "Oldest First" for note ordering at the bottom of the page.

A recent patch fixed a bug that had previously resulted in the default "Newest First" ordering being ignored.

The change to which GF refers was announced in Tidings (aka What's new) on 2007-05-01.
