Ananda has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi,

we are in the process of migrating from Solaris/Sunone web server to Linux/Apache webserver env. Applications use cgi that incorporate mozilla:LDAP package useage.

We have been unable to install the Mozilla::LDAP module on Linux, for some reasons.

We are on "Linux dev 2.4.21-37.ELsmp #1 SMP Wed Sep 7 13:28:55 EDT 2005 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux" and perl v5.8.0 built for i386-linux-thread-multi.

Solaris was 2.8 with perl version 5.005_03 built for sun4-solaris.

All help is appriciated.

Ananda

You don't tell us what the "some reason" is that Mozillla::LDAP doesn't build for you. Looking for Mozilla::LDAP, it seems that it lives in the perldap package. Looking at the reported bugs for perldap, as linked from that page, there is a patch to make it work with Perl 5.6.1, and I guess that that patch will also work for Perl 5.8.x.

Maybe the vendor of your linux distribution also provides a prepackaged perldap package?

Did you read the files README and INSTALL from perldap? For perldap they are very important.
