dhivyaai has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi, I'm used to installing perl modules for unix but currently I have a project involving perl and windows. I need to download and install GD library for windows. I'm having lots of trouble doing this because GD for some reason is not part of ActiveState PPM so I have to do it manually. So, can I just download the GD library from cpan and install it manually? But HOW DO I INSTALL MANUALLY in windows? Anyone who has successfully installled GD in windows, Please do give me pointers. I would really appreciate it. thanks, dhivya

GD for some reason is not part of ActiveState PPM

That's because GD doesn't build under ActiveState's automated procedure. You can, however, install via ppm from randyk's ppm repository. Just run:
    ppm install http://theoryx5.uwinnipeg.ca/ppms/GD.ppd
See http://theoryx5.uwinnipeg.ca/ppms/ for a complete list of the modules available at randyk's rep, and add it to ppm's list of repositories. (Another useful rep can be found at http://www.bribes.org/perl/ppmdir.html.)

    Cheers,
    Rob
