Any 5.8 perl should come with the piconv Perl implementation of iconv. That may help... (BTW: Instead of hardcoding links like `<a href="http://www.iconv.com/iconv.htm">iconv online</a>` you can use the Monastery's shortcuts as in `[http://www.iconv.com/iconv.htm\|iconv online]`.)
