I was looking around the Monastery for help compiling Perl 5.8.8 with threads on my Mac (OS X 10.4) and didn't find an answer, so I'm posting here to remind myself. The key for me was adding -lpthread before -lc in the compiler flags, because Configure didn't do it automagically.
