in reply to ALL YOUR BASES ARE BELONG TO ::gets shot::

OK, this is it. I see this "All your base are belong to us" all over the Internet. It's continually mentioned at slashdot, it's mentioned on perlmonks. If you do a google search you get hundreds of pages alluding to this joke. But not a single page seems to explain what this phrase means and where it comes from. That is apparently obvious. Sorry, but I must have been out during the "in" joke. Must have been working or something... Was the joke on for one single day, and everybody got notified by e-mail? Please enlighten me!

;-)

Yes, it was. We called you, but you were out.

And then somebody set up us http://www.allyourbase.net. Poke around, have fun. There's even a timeline somewhere.

Here is a pretty complete history (and it's still being updated!).

I was pleased when I found this (not from here) a few months after fact and that I wasn't the only one who saw the bridge in Northampton, Ma.

I was ecstatic when I noticed it though sadly my girlfriend was not amused.

You haven't searched long enough jeorgen. I was able to find an initial answer within a couple of hours. Then a fellow monk pointed me to a thread prior to what I had found so far. Show some initiative and you'll find the answer pretty easily. You just aren't thinking hard enough about your search.
