Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hello, Monk-tastic ones:

After trying and failing many, many times to install the Mozilla::Mechanize module, I have begun to despair of ever doing so on any hardware/OS/perl combination to which I currently have access.

The author himself seems to suggest that he can no longer confirm that the module works.

So I'm wondering, has anyone personally managed to install and use this module? Not heard of someone who has, or met someone who claims that they did, etc., but actually personally done so?

I ask this not because I question whether the module is really viable, but rather, because my aim is to attempt to duplicate as much as possible the exact conditions for a successful install.

So if you have firsthand experience of successfully installing and using this module, I would really appreciate if you would share the details of your operating system, C compiler, version of perl, version of the module, etc., as well as any tweaks you had to make (as far as you can recall).

Thank you in advance.

Scott Lanning, the author, recently had this to say about it on his journal. It contains a couple of links that may help you indirectly.

I see that the RT queue (link requires authentication, I forget the incantation for the anonymous view) for the module has no open tickets. You could do worse than opening a ticket with a plea for a new release that might actually work. This is one good way of letting an author know that there is someone out there who's interested in the module.
