There are Win32::MSAgent and AAC::Pvoice and Win32::SAPI5, all by Jouke. For Linux you will have to make-do with PerlSpeak or simply do some searching on your own.	[reply]

Though not perl there is a linux utility espeak that does just what you ask.. However if you're asking for something to work on source code I'm not sure about its code reading capability.	[reply]

Flite is very efficient, but you are limited in voice choice. Click on the link in my sig, to get a sample. I have a flite generated audio in the flash video (it comes at the end). I'm not really a human, but I play one on earth. Cogito ergo sum a bum	[reply]
