Excellent idea. Actually, seeing this node in Best Nodes of the Day, I was kind of hoping that it was an announcement of an implemented feature on the site. Ah... :)

I am thinking that we could inherit the age indication CSS classes, for each node, from Recently Active Threads. The user could then decide for himself exactly how he wants it to look.
