Is there a way to do an include in a Node? I'm imagining something like a link to a FreeNodelet or maybe Private Scratchpad. For instance, I'm about ready to post chapter 0 of my Cryptogram series and am thinking of including intra-series nav links in all of them.

I can think of some reasons NOT to do this, but I can think of a lot of reasons it might be helpful. If it's not already implemented, perhaps the pmdev group might consider it as a feature when they have spare time?

If you want to use templates in the contents of nodes (I didn't figure out that this is what you wanted but someone in the CB mentioned that and I think it fits), then those need to be done in a "push" model, not a pull model. That is, when you modify the source material, it would be pushed to all nodes that depend on it. It is unlikely to be implemented as pulling in material from somewhere else whenever a node is displayed.

This is more efficient because nodes get displayed over and over but the "to be included" content is going to change extremely rarely. It also means that you can implement this yourself when you have spare time. :)

Thanks Tye and ambrus. I think it'll be a while before I'm good enough to join pmdev, but I'll start reading the links from ambrus anyway.

You probably already know this, but "nodelet" is perlmonks term for the little boxes appearing in the side of perlmonks, like the chatterbox. You can get info about them at the FAQ.

This was something that caused me difficulty to understand your question at once.

Ah - sorry about that. The problem in my head at that point was where to include from. The nodelet idea was just a brainstorm. I've since tried to read about the Everything Development Engine, but haven't gotten very far.
