toll fraud detection through telephony Call Detail Record analysis

gman has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hello all,

I just started looking at detecting toll fraud and the different ways it is done. I was wondering if anyone has done this type of work in perl. I have searched here and goolge but have found mostly commercial links. So any links, books that anyone may know about would be greatly appreciated as open information seems to be hard to find.
