AgentM is correct. You are calling Net::LDAP, which is a subroutine named LDAP in the Net module.

You want the following:

my $ldap = new Net::LDAP();

I suspect that your code now looks like: `$ldap = new Net::LDAP->('host.edu', port => '389');` [download] which is incorrect syntax. If you are using indirect object syntax (see perlobj under "Method Invocation"), your code should read: `$ldap = new Net::LDAP('host.edu', port => 389) or die "$@";` [download] But it is better to use: `$ldap = Net::LDAP->new('host.edu', port => 389) or die "$@";` [download] (As an aside, remember to check your return values!)
