Re: NO CLICKABLE INPUT

    a) Does form filling using www::Mechanize, more specifically the click_button function work if the form's such that on clicking, it goes to a javaScript??

If the form and its input fields are defined in the HTML (and not as a document.write from JS), WWW::Mechanize will see them. You could fire up WWW::Mechanize::Shell (written by our local hero Corion) and fill out the values interactively and post the submit to IPAllocSubNets.asp. Once you have it working in W::M::S, it is a trivial matter to write the native W::M program.

    b) I've heard many times that Mechanize can't handle JavaScript() but is there a solution to move to the next page for this particular source code: (It's a bit long, so I've pasted the essential part of it)

Right, in the general case, you can mimic what the JS code does (in this case, it's only error-checking that you are free to ignore), and then perform the submit. On the server side, there is no way to distinguish if the JS code was run or not. All it sees is a POST query with a pile of CGI parameters.

So if you ensure that your form inputs contain sensible data, there is no reason why you couldn't get this to work. Good luck.

    • a) No. It's simple form clicking (Submit or Reset). So if button type is "Submit" when form is send. WWW::Mechanize can't handle Javascript.
    • b) It's simple Javascript code. It change form action attribute before sending (to IPAllocSubNets.asp). So you need to change form action attribute and when submit the form.
Hey.. Thanks a lot dude.. I was able to solve the issue, but only by using the POST METHOD & Live HTTP Header.. I didn't know how to add the form action & I've posted a new msg regarding file retrieval which needs form action change again.. Pls take a look..
      Cheers
I've posted a new msg regarding file retrieval which needs form action change again.. Pls take a look..

Then you should probably make that "msg" into a proper link for others to easily... take a look.
