Described by the authors as a "...software equivalent of a depleted uranium lawn gnome" and the "ultimate sixty-ton cast iron lawn ornament for the desktops" MGM is a perl based load & system status meter.
I'm boggled by the fact that the thing's written in TK; it looks remarkably not-TK like.
Regrettably, I don't have a *nix box to fiddle with, so I have no first hand reports.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Monks and Nuns, I present you with The Moaning Goat Meter

For what it's worth: it works like a charm, out of the box (RH system). Very simple installation procedure.

    Oh. My. Gawd.

I love it. I love the site, I love the tool, I love the code. For the record, works fine out of the box on Mandrake 7.0, Perl 5.6.0, Tk 800.022

    All hail, übergeek!

    Peace,

MGM is great!

I found it a couple of days ago, installed it (bone easy!), and watched the fish turn :-)

Actually, the fish is quite useful in helping you to see whether your system is running smoothly.

Another tip: Maximize MGM so it takes up an entire virtual desktop. It fits right into Miranda's MovieOS! I bet Pitr would like it too :-)

I love it! Love it I tell you! Install was a snap.

I've always said Perl/Tk is wholly underrated and should come installed with every major Linux distro, and this will provide me with yet more ammunition to convert the unbelievers.

It has found a happy home on all of my workstations.

Two thumbs up. Way up :-)
