Monks

I do all my Perl programming under Cygwin on WinXP. Now, I need to parse Excel documents with Win32-Ole. Before I start, does anybody know if Win32-Ole will work under Cygwin? Are there any restrictions that I should know about? I didn't see any in the Win32-Ole documentation.

My first goal is to write a script that will output an Excel document as tab-delimited text. I want exactly the same output you would get as if you saved the Excel document manually "as text".

Thank you

Not entirely sure ... but I think Win32::OLE is part of libwin ... and I think there's a Cygwin build of libwin available.

That being the case, there should be a Win32::OLE that works under Cygwin. (Look for 'libwin' in the available Cygwin perl binaries.)

It should. If not, it's a bug. Emulation of unix system calls (i.e. cygwin) shouldn't affect OLE at all.

Thank you for the replies...I found the cygwin package. It is called 'perl-libwin32'. Now its time to code.

    Hi

Does this answer still apply under Perl 5.14 ?

Below post suggests - possibly not http://www.mail-archive.com/perl-win32-users@listserv.activestate.com/msg24459.html

But it's worth asking as I need Win32::OLE working for a project I am really keen on, and I think this would be the easiest (possibly the only) way to do it.

    Thanks
