For the purpose of simplifying a Parrot configuration step class, I would like to know how the different versions of the perldoc utility correlate with different versions of Perl.

Specifically, is perldoc version 1 so old that no one would be running it with Perl 5.8.0 or later?

Conversely, what versions of Perl 5 were perldoc versions 2 and 3 first packaged with?
