I personally believe that as funny as it may seem, most (reasonable) people seemed not to have a problem with it. However I did never claim to be mature. Indeed I'm very immature, albeit in a very mature way. Anyway: partially following your suggestion, I'm casting the IPB incipit style in a form that will hopefully please most compulsive whiners too.

    I, for one, am completely sick of reading it. If I could killfile you, I would.

      I personally believe that I can understand your pov and I suppose I'll get tired, too, first or later. OTOH I'm moderately, mildly or even completely (depending on the actual case) sick of

      • "n00bz" who ask clueless questions;
      • IM talk;
      • problems that could be solved by a judicious use of strict and/or warnings;
      • unchecked opens;
      • XY problems;
      • whiners who complain about alleged elitism in Perl circles, when given good advice;
      • freaks;
      • people who argue with freaks;
      • Apache configuration questions asked as if they were Perl questions;
      • HTML questions asked as if they were Perl questions;
      • SQL questions asked as if they were Perl questions;
      • excellent Perl hackers requiring (cranky) rules about the usage of their name (e.g. wrt capitalization) which conflict with those of the language they express themselves;
      • excellent Perl hackers who use custom quote signs that no commonly widespread newsreader can recognize;
      • excellent Perl hackers who write all lowercase like kidiots, while not being;
      • etc.

      Anyway, I find that discussions affected by any of the above can (sometimes unexpectedly) bring up some interesting bits. This very sub-thread gave our fellow monk kelan the opportunity to post an interesting piece of information, and I have the arrogance to believe that even some posts of mine will have something interesting to say and that a tiny bit of cranky habit of my own -compared to stuff as annoying as the above- shouldn't hinder it.

      Eventually, even Kevin_Raymer can be useful, as a continuous source of fun.

        In my case, you're wrong, but thanks to kelan I don't have to care anymore, ever. Show business is kind of cruel, isn't it?

      You can get fairly close by adding the following to your personal CSS:

      .pmnote-409850 { display: none }
