Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:
So, I have this suid perl script, set to 4755.
When I call it, I get a "Can't do setuid". All docs specify that it might
a. be due to the suidperl (resp. sperl5.00503) executable not in place (it is) or
b. it not being executable (which it is)
, and it does get executed like a strace shows.
System is Linux kernel 2.2.14, btw.
I know I can write a wrapper in c or use sudo, but that would leave me bereft of the wisdom I seek.
Any insights for me?
Does the suidperl executable have to be set suid root, for a starter? (Nah!)
