I just posted something with some HTML tags that I wanted to appear in the text, so I used the standard URL-escapes for < and >. Worked fine, but then I previewed the post and made a change, to discover that the tags had become unescaped, so the tags vanished. I had to go back and change the brackets to escapes.

That a bug? Maybe a feature? :)

Probably a less than desirable feature. I'll look into it when I rewrite the addnew/preview stuff in the near future as the code is kind of kludgey right now.

I also had somethign like this happen. I was posting a question and enclosed the Title in double quotes (i.e. "title") but when I previewed, the quotes were not HTML-escaped and the title disappeared from the input text box (probably due to closing the value of the title with another double quote). Just something to note. ;)

A better explanation of how the posting on the procedure page would be nice as well. Perhaps explaining the best way to show HTML tags, inside CODE tags and outside, as well as what exactly the preview and post parsers do to your psots.
